Corporate Epistemology and
the New Knowledge Management (Presentation)
This presentation was given
by Mark W. McElroy at the Complexity in Management IV conference
in Fort Myers, FL on December 8, 2002 at Florida Gulf Coast University.
It presents the first conception of Knowledge Management theory
and practice predicated on the rejection of 'justified true belief'
in favor of Karl Popper's 'fallibilism,' or the view that no
knowledge is certain. McElroy outlines the KM implications of
this epistemology and presents them in the context of a corresponding
model for how businesses should operate (The Open Enterprise),
a prescriptive model for management co-developed by McElroy and
Joseph M. Firestone, Ph.D.
